"When anyone invokes the Devil with intentional ceremonies,
the Devil comes, and is seen."
Eliphas Levi

PREPARATIONS

Traditionally, the Black Mass was performed on the eve of the Sabbat, out of doors. A flat rock or table was used as an altar. This altar was covered in the very same linen cloths used on the Christian altar. In more modern times, the ceremony is performed inside, and a naked non-virgin woman serves as altar.
There will be present, in the image of the Sabbatic Goat, an individual sitting upon a throne behind the altar. Prior to Mass, worshippers and celebrant will kiss his backside.

Assisting the celebrant are two children, both past the philosophical age of reason (age 7). One boy child and one girl child are traditionally used, with the girl child taking the most active part. There will be no overtly sexual usage attached to her presence. A prostitute, clad in only a scarlet robe, is commonly used as a substitute for the children.

The celebrant may be clad in red robes or a black cope, underneath which, he is naked. The Acolytes are dressed in red robes, the worshippers in black.
